Railway carpark PCN - straight to ZZPS and QDR demands

I received my first notification of this charge when ZZPS sent a demand for £170. No contact from SABA car parks at all before this. I was unable to contact them by phone so sent an email - and gave them my name as driver of my son's car. This then went immediately to QDR who have raised the amount they now want to £182.Then I looked at this site - I wish I'd done it straight away! I still have no idea what the charge is actually for as we paid the parking fee on the day. QDR say this charge is under section 219 of the Transport Act 2000 and therefore I have to pay. I have tried contacting SABA to ask them what this is for, but they don't let me email as it's now in the hands of other people. What can I do? Ignore them?

Play mail ping pong with them. By "them" I mean Saba. Do not communicate with debt collectors at all.
Write (using good old fashioned pen and paper) to them asking a string of one line questions.
Ask them can you appeal? Why not? Can you go to POPLA? What is the law they are on about?
Do this very slowly. The idea is to string it out past 6 months from the date of the heinous crime. They cannot prosecute past this date so again go slowly.
If you search the board there is a thread with a suggested list of questions.0 -
When is the date of the alleged offence?
Search SABA/Indigo or ZZPS. Lots of great info here (and I personally have had success on a Railway Byelaw case using this approach this year, so can vouch for it).0 -
Thanks for advice - I will start by asking what the fine is for! Alleged offence was beginning of March, so only a few letters only, hopefully.0

Great. Beginning of March means you already have 3 months under your belt. As soon as you are over 6 months you are in clear.0
