Does DWP recognise the difference between mobility and fitness - PIP-wise ?
ie) I go to the gym but am still virtually immobile

Well obviously you are not immobile if you go to the gym.
Assuming this is not yet another of your wind-up threads then yes, they understand the difference, and yes, they will not believe a !!!! and bull story about being immobile, or nearly immobile, and being able to go to the gym, unless you are carried or wheeled there.0 -
I’ve just noticed you were asking about blowing £25,000 on a car recently.
People like you are the reason that people with genuine problems sometimes get given a hard time and why there is often a suspicion of benefit claimants.
Hopefully you are just a troll, as you are not coming across well with your stories / fantasies / provocations.0 -

Jealous eh ?
I am not a troll - this is a serious question.
Plenty of people are in a similar position (being disabled and incapable of working)
I was made redundant - 10 years ago with a lump sum - that I will need later in life
Hopefully - I will get a Motability car - come my PIP assessment !0 -

I use a wheelchair - OK ?
Not that that gives you the right to abuse me !
Are you aware just what it is like - not being able to walk to the corner shop
or even walk to the end of the road ?
I have to drive everywhere - even 1/4 mile to the post office
I bet that you are one of those "normals" without any mobility issues ?
I bet that you are not even ON benefits - I am not claiming ESA but trying to survive by working a 10 hour week - which is HARD but better for me than sitting at home on benefits) and yes - I do manage not to need to be "carried" to work !
So come on don't apologise - because, it would be beneath you......0 -
They should.... they should be looking specifically at the activities in question and technically addressing them in relation to your circumstances. Your risk is actually as per the unhelpful responses above... that they make wild generalisations, flawed assumptions or extrapolations from what you do engage... especially if there is no clarification like 'I do x in my wheelchair' rather than just 'I do x'. So in claim.. or at assessment.. I'd at least make it clear how you go and what you actually do there and the restrictions or difficulties presenting. It may be a good angle to actually describe the difficulties you have as I think activities you do engage are often an excellent walkthrough to explain problems relating to many activities and how you deal with them or how you can't... in your typical day to day life.
Others should have better advice - my better knowledge and thought is from the other side... mental restrictions."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

Thanks - that is what I assumed and was just looking for someone else in a similar position to see what they did.0 -

You need to understand, your stories here are full of holes, and you need to at least get them straight if you are indeed entitled to and wish to receive the appropriate benefits.
Make a claim with the sort of rubbish you post here and even if genuine I see youbeing turned down.
You have limited mobility, this should entitle you to help, but if you are driving and going to a gym then you are not immobile.
There is no judgement here, just bemusement that you seem to think words mean different things to what everyone else thinks them to mean.0 -

So you are not claiming any benefits - yet appear to believe that you can advise others on claiming ?
Also - you are clearly a fantasist who for some unknown reason, dreams of driving an electric abomination, yet actually drives a 40 year old Plastic Pig !!
I too drive an electric mobility scooter. !
You believe that since I drive to the gym - I should nor be entitled to any DLA/PIP mobility do you ?
Have you any idea what you are saying ? ?
I suggest that you keep away from the Disability Benefits board in future and stop giving advice when you are clearly NOT the most knowledgeable person out there.
You claim to be a Banker - If banking is not fraud I do not know what is......
I think that you actually work in Burger King flipping burgers for a living.0 -

Don't let it get to you. This is by far the most negative message board dealing with benefits and disabled peoples questions on the internet, its been this way for years. There are much better forums out there where you'll not get the same generic answers to your questions you get here. Although their lots of very good posters here some ruin it on this massage board, especially the benefit bashers, they are pathetic they'll trudged through your posts you've made years ago just to discredit you so they can feel high and mighty. See it here many times! How sad!0
