Consumer law advice please

Could anyone assist me on consumer law please in regards to this issue.
This morning at 5am I was with my husband and just watching tv. When my cabinet directly opposite (has no fault nor was hit or disturbed in any way) exploded. Now it is full of limited edition hot toys which are valuable and sentimental to me and my husband as we both love this as a hobby.
Now we took pictures straight after it happened and it was making a cracking sound for ages after the initial explosion. We were fearful to even remove the figures incase the cabinet shattered. We had nothing around it or on top but just the shipper boxes as pictured. It's over 2 years old but we did a search on anything to see if there was a recall. Low and behold 2016 there was reports of this happening yet no recall.
Where do we stand ?
There customer service at first implied it was our fault in some way, even after we explained there was no fault nor anyone near the cabinet. Also that it can't cut you so....must be okay ? Well i disagree as if people with children need to be made aware of this issue.
Thank you for your help.
I don't know how to attach the pictures

After 2 years it is unlikely to be inherently faulty.
Just claim on your insurance.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Hi Thank you for your reply.
There was no fault nor issue as was display case. It was very well taken care of as we have figures within.
We saw the article from 2016 and were questioning why it wasn't recalled when it was a world wide issue with the glass products. I read within law it can be up to 6 years.0 -
Up to six years is to take the matter to court .
You can read anything on the web a thousand say X ten million say no problem .
Consumer Law see stickys top of thread .

Basics at two years you are claiming against the vendor under CR .The vendor would probably require you to prove your claim via an independant report .
The vendor if fault found would be able to refund less £££ amount for two years usage .
You have no claim against the manufacturer only the vendor .0 -
Toughened glass? All it needs is a bit of grit under it and it provides a stress point that can suddenly give way over time and cause all that latent energy to be released in an explosive failure.0

"hot toys" ?
