Nowhere near as good as having your post deleted from the budgeted headcount. It was a struggle to get then to say outloud "you are being sacked".

As with other posters in the UK without 2 years service you are pretty much toast. There are exceptions but they generally involves senior executives, been headhunted and an employment contract to match.
