is there such a thing? I was hoping for just a faceplate to replace the existing flicker switch.
various search terms only seem to return Hub type options.
thank you.

I assume that the OP is looking for something like this:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/varilight-v-pro-1-gang-1-way-infrared-touch-remote-dimmer-switch-white/1220j
The advisory notice for it says this: "Not suitable for non-dimmable fluorescent bulbs or tubes, wirewound or torodial transformers, fans or motors". Therefore will operate only with a limited range of lightbulbs.
It also requires line of sight between the remote control and the faceplate.0 -
Thanks. Doesn't need to have a switch on the plate. It's for the garage where the light switch is in completely the wrong place. The light is a fluorescent tube.
Just an on/off button on a remote would be great.
Thanks.0 -
Fluorescent tube is probably not compatible with that product.
I don't think they make a relay-based remote control faceplate product (it may not be technically possible without a Neutral connection).
You could have a look at modifying the product below, if you are confident about minor electrical wiring work. (It would need to connect to the ceiling rose where it can access Live and Neutral and switch the Live to the lamp).

how about something like this

I have gone super techie.

with a remote mains socket. if I need the main ceiling light then at least I can find the switch now0 -
Problem is that the wiring to most switch plate connections do not have the neutral wire in them
Just the incoming live and the outgoing switch return and possibly on modern wiring an earth wire.
So you cannot fit an active remote switch which requires a live and neutral to work.
Current wiring practices now recommend taking the neutral down to the switch plate back box precisely to make this sort of thing possible.0 -
£7.28? Thats super expensive. Most of the cheapy shops sell them for £1.50. Home Bargains, B&M etc. Probably similar prices in the supermarket also.
Why didn't you just move the light switch?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
