Hi,

I need to renew my license after disqualification which happened years ago. The fee is £65 for a renewal after disqualifcation. I'm not sure if I need to apply for a new license due to time elapsed which would be £90. I suffer social issues so I can't phone to ask dvla but im wondering if I pay the £65 postal order then it turns out to be £90 I need to pay will they refund me if I can't pay the £90 ?

Thanks.

Simple question, what licence did you have before the ban and were you disqualified until test passed?

I passed car test but was suspended within a year and hadn't sent certificate away so physically didnt have license card to post back to them etc. I think I will need to resit test but my online thing doesnt really suggest that. Obviously sitting test etc will cost alot more than just paying the £65 fee to get license back so thats why im wondering if I pay and they said I need to resit test will I get my £65 back.

You had your provisional licence and you didn't claim your test passed?

So you weren't disqualified, when you reapply you'll get a provisional and have so start again.

Once you pass your test you get your certificate and get two years to post it off in exchange for the red drivers license card. I didn't sent certificate away before getting banned.

Anyways, if I pay the incorrect fee will I get a refund ?

What were you banned for? If it was for not claiming your test passed out wasn't a disqualification.

    New drivers

You must apply for a new provisional licence and retake both parts of your driving test if your licence is cancelled within 2 years of passing them.

If your licence is cancelled you can apply for a new one at any time. Order form D1 or get one from the Post Office. Send it with the fee to the address on the form.
