HSBC Current Account Switching Delay

I finally bit the bullet and started my current account switch from HBOS to HBSC two weeks ago. The account should have moved today - 21 June.
Debit card received the first weekend, followed by a PIN number and various emails all going well.
Tonight at 17.02 i received a text - we are busier than usual and it may take longer to process (my switch). You dont need to do anything. We'll be in touch shortly.
I telephoned HSBC as soon as i got home to be told the switching department was closed and to call again Monday. The telephone banking team had no idea there were any delays or how long the switch would take as there were no notes on my account.
This is why people don't switch bank accounts. Despite guarantees it is seamless, when it goes tits up it costs more in time and effort fixing it than the £175.00 i will be getting from HSBC.

Our switch has been a nightmare, didnt happen on the correct day, weren't offered a choice of date, were told we would be but had no clue when it was going to happen, when it did i was away which left me away from home with no money and my old bank card, new card arrived after the switch occurred.
The registration process for internet banking and mobile banking is a nightmare, spent over two hours on phone today sorting that out, still not sorted got to wait for a code which they can only send by post.
On the up side I've had 2 compensation payments totalling £130 plus the £175 switch fee.0 -
Well I applied on Friday. My card arrived today. A call was required to set up online banking, but it was fairly painless at around 10m with a very pleasant operator. Another 5m call was required to verify the card for Apple Pay. Now it’s all done and working fine.
I also requested a switch during the application process, but no news about that yet.0 -
My switch completed on 1/7 - not the best date as I had no idea who was paying my DDs that mostly leave my account on 1st of the month...
TBF like yellow mango the internet and mobile banking set up was quick and easy. The HSBC app is ok not as good as the Halifax app
My complaint is I wasn’t offered any choice of switch date when HSBC failed to meet the original request, if I had been then the 1st would have been the last date I would have chosen.
Neither HSBC or Halifax seemed to know who would pay my DDs on 1st so in the end I split my pay into each account to be sure, as it turn out the Halifax paid them. All money was transferred and in the HSBC account on Monday evening.
My debit card turned up two days after my application yet my T&Cs switching letter arrived yesterday !
Had I not told my employer to switch my pay to HSBC and sat tight all would have been ok, but delayed by a couple of weeks.
Ohhh and my current account has disappeared from Halifax online service so can’t see what was paid - but I kept my own record0
