Are there any issues with vines on houses?

Thank you for your great advice. You are all right, Ivy grows very fast. I am shocked how much it has grown since my last reply.

My house is in a great location for London (its all relative). However, although it is a brick house, "I believe" it has concrete overlay or stones (I am clueless on this stuff). The short of it is it is not very pretty. And the ivy or any greenery makes it look pretty in my opinion.

So I would like to keep the Ivy because it can go around the shape of the house. It has already covered the front of the house. The house is a perfect square, with a flat roof, not a traditional house at all. The problem, as you all warned me about, is that it does grow super fast.

I am looking at investing in some electric cutting tools to trim it regularly. I have trimmed it using garden shears in the past, but it ends being a bit of a chore. I was looking at either of these products.

Any thoughts? Will they do the job? Or do you have a better recommendation?
