The Good The Bad And The TalkTalk?

I was on TT for my landline call, and paying rental to BT with BB via Virgin.net (crap) and decided to leave and take up the Talk2 offer from TT.

All has gone pretty well except for a little downtime on the BB. I got a MAC number from Virgin and tried to give it to the customer services dpt at TT but they said they didn't require it and Virgin would be informed of the chang over date. I decided to email Virgin (just incase) and put it in writing about changing to TT and when the changeover date would be. Now they have sent me an email informing me that TT had not informed them and that I have to phone an 0845 number to close my account??

Anyway never mind I was expecting a certain amount of disruption.

I have used the 1899 and 118866 call services for ages via my landline and now they won't work :-( . I am at a loss as to which of the myriad of cheap call providers work via TT landline. The callchecker seems to only give details for BT landline users?

Can anyone point me in the right direction please, I have a feeling this 0845 number to Virgin will be rather busy ;)

Thanks
Steven

Nearly none will work. As for the MAC, TT should have used it as now Virgin have the right to charge you the termination fee.

I had to give a further 30 days notice to Virgin Media to terminate the contract, which meant another months charge.

When I contacted TT customer services I was astonished and quite taken aback to be offered their sincere apology's and given £20 credit on my account! Even got confirmation via email :)

Now I am in the process of writing to Virgin Media to complain, fingers crossed for a positive outcome.
  • 18185.com is a cheap call carrier which can be used with TT. You register your number on the site and once confirming their email can use it straight away. There's a london number you have to call to get routed to the carrier from a non-bt line but it does confirm how much the call will cost before you are connected. My dad uses it with his TT and I use it with my mobile (reduces a peak call to 1p per minute for non-bt).
