Dishwasher leak (can you identify this part?) SMEG DF6FABP

We found a leak a few months back but had to get the local engineer out to assess. They told us it was a one off and probably due to the spray arms being blocked by bad loading and all the water hitting the same spot.
Anyway, found the leak again too late as it has now wrecked our wood laminate floor.
I got the dishwasher up on staging and ran it and saw water slowly forming where I have circled the picture. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this?
Bit reluctant to pay another call out charge after blowing £50 on nothing the last time :-)

What is the make and model of the dishwasher?
I have embedded the picture in my post for other poster's convenience.

Thanks for posting the picture!
Make and model is SMEG DF6FABP0 -
From the image filename, I guess a Smeg. Looks like it has an electrical connection to it - perhaps the drain pump ?

Assuming the hole's not supposed to be there, can you just stick some araldite or repair putty or something over it ?
ETA: the hole looks intentional - to drain water that shouldn't have got in there in the first place ? A broken seal somewhere ?0 -
It is the dryer enclosure and the attached motor drives an impeller to blow air around the cavity.
The hole is obviously there to allow water to drain from where it should not be.
I suggest that you need to find a better service technician who has got some gorm.0 -
Agreed thanks.
Hole is definitely there by design so yes it does point to a bigger issue.
Will engage some gormfull technicians :-)0 -
to me it looks like a pump drain housing. My washing machines pump uses that type of motor.0
