Is it worth doing this? I am with Together energy and am unhappy with the service. I haven't had a bill since March (should be monthly) despite sending in monthly readings. When I have contacted them they say they have had a few issues and it's on it's way, usually the next week. However I still haven't received one. Of course I still continue to pay direct debits on time.

What are the charges like for leaving early? Is it worth it?

I have an annual summary for Electricity which says exit fee is £30. I never received one for the gas. I have about 6 months left on my fixed term.

Put your actual consumption into a comparison site and factor in a charge of sya £30 a utility.

What does your tariff say ? Hint - also look at your March bill.

You can switch about 49 days from end of tariff without any charge.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

You can switch whenever you like subject to early exit fees. Note that you need to factor this into your "savings". if you find another supplier that is genuinely, say, £50 cheaper a year your actual saving that time would only be £20.

As ‘Robin9’ says,... do a comparison using accurate usage figures (or as accurate as you can make them) and see if any better deals are on offer,...but factor in the £60 exit fees.

You state TogetherEnergy have admitted they are having admin problems and if that is your only issue then perhaps it’s financially prudent to sit tight and let them (hopefully!) get their act together,...depends how attractive your TogetherEnergy tariff actually is though.

For what it’s worth, and I realise you are on an earlier tariff, but TogetherEnergys present tariff ‘Together Fixed April20’ (+£60 exit fee) looks quite pricey;...if I enter my own personal dual-fuel usage figures there are many cheaper deals on offer at the moment,...even with the £60 exit fees factored in.

Thanks think it's worth doing the comparison.

It’s not a bad idea to do a comparison on a regular basis throughout your contract,... it’s sometimes surprising what turns up.:money:

P.S. depends on the tariff Ts&Cs and personal choice of course, but my own preference is to always choose a fixed tariff with £0 exit fees,...if it’s coupled with a sweetener/cashback et al, then all the better.:)

Thanks I've done this now. Gone for eon after having poor service from smaller company. Save about £300 less £60 exit fees plus £25 cashback. Will see how this goes.
    usually do check each year.

Check that your exit fees aren't £60 + VAT. The VAT on exit fees is 20% not the 5% on the fuel so £72.

If you want to switch early and avoid exit fees, it is worth trying Bulb. You can get £50 cash back if you use someone else's referral code (there is a thread on here somewhere for that) and I think they pay your exit fees as well. Since they have no exit fees of their own, you can then switch away again without penalty.
