I've now found out that Universal Credit treat all severance wages (except redundancy payments) as any other earnings and deduct 63 percent of any final wages that one receives AFTER claiming Universal Credit, has anyone else heard this??
That’s correct - that’s how Universal Credit is designed. Any earnings received within the assessment period are taken into account regardless of when they were earned.
You were advised about this in the first response, by Rubyroobs, to your original post and in subsequent posts.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I'm in a similar situation, thought i was doing right by claiming for UC the day after my leaving date, big mistake on my part,UC has reopened my claim using the previous qualifying dates,so i don't receive any payment for july as expected as they've taken into account may's pay date, looks like i'll get about 80 quid for august payment taking into account my final wage & won't receive full payment til sept, the account did say that my details would have to be inputted all over again if i left it til after june 30- maybe i should've done that in hindsight0
