How do you pay?

Hi all,


this may be a silly question, but we're looking at having some home improvements done. but i started thinking about how we would pay for this, its around £15k can i just transfer this on my online banking? thanks

You can generally transfer it via online banking. Some online banking services have a limit, but it is likely that you will be making two separate payments anyway; one before the work is completed and one after, so you are more or less certain to come under the limit if you split the payment.

Be aware that there are a lot of fraudsters targeting the email accounts used by building companies and solicitors, so never accept the bank details to pay to via email - always get them in writing from the company owner. if you receive an email saying that the bank account number has changed, call the company up and check this with the owner.
