Anyone had any experience with these cars?, looking at one on eBay with 97k and 6 months mot, 10 stamps in book, after doing a bit of research the chains and front tyre wear seem their weakness. Advertised by a trader £1195 and it’s a manual , classic trim.

Depends what you call constructive, Mercs are nice cars, one saves money in one space to use in another, we haven't seen the car and obviously it appeals to you, Merc advocates the majority say go for auto. I guess me personally I'd prefer that to say a zafira or Mondeo diesel, as long as you can afford any running costs and like the car then go for it, you only live once.0 -
The chains are the problem with a W203; I'd say avoid. If you can get a good W202 it would be a much better buy; they have duplex chains with no issues.0

Any car nearing 100k miles and at £1k is going to be tired and near the end of it's life. If it lasts longer than a year, you're in bonus territory.0

Can't comment on individual spec of either, but in general both have fairly good reputations. Both popular with minicab drivers. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
