Sell car with or without MOT

Morning all

I have a Vectra 1.8 Life 2007, 112k miles. just failed MOT on small exhaust puncture and bulbs. it will also need a new clutch pretty much immediately

I have just bought a new car, and this was going onto Ebay regardless, and i WILL be declaring the clutch issue

so my question is this - it will cost £150 for me to get it through a MOT. Clutch i can do myself, so will cost me around £440. is it worthwhile getting fresh 12 month MOT and hen selling, or fixing clutch and MOT, or neither and sell as is?

i am leaning towards getting it through the MOT for £150 and selling it and declaring the clutch issue

any advice is welcome :)

Defo do the MOT, a years ticket will make it so much easier to sell even with a troublesome clutch as its one thing less the new owner has to worry about.

Gun gum the exhaust? I wouldn't buy without mot unless it was a spares or repair sale

flexi pipe for exhaust - unsure how easy this is to replace myself

and if i sold without MOT, i would sell as Spares or Repair, i would never mislead on a sale :)

    cheers
the exhaust is the flexi pipe
there are advisories as well, which are the same from last year as follows:
    Wheel bearing
    corroded brake pipes
    rod joint cover
and been told now that on way home from MOT yesterday, the engine light came on - misfire!!

Spares or repair then to save lots of hassle.

You have a new car, you really have no interest in the old one just get rid PDQ.

Sell as it is for £100 and accept offers. No point in spending time and money only to chase it. What would it be worth if it was all good, £800?

    Easier than a clutch swap.

    Thabks all
Scrapping it will bring in about £115, so will throw it on ebay with all faults under spairs or repair and see if someone wants it to put it back on the road

I would do that - get your £115 and a trouble free sale.

Can you not get one of those generic flexi pipe bits? you cut out the old flex and use jubilee clips to fasten the new one one - never tried them mind, so dont know if they are any good.
