Earlier today I tried to remove and refit the locks myself and I am honestly shocked at how simple it was. In future I will do this myself, though I hope I don't have to, and will also offer to help out any friends who may need their locks changing.

Yeah it's a shame we get a lot of people on here with similar problems regarding locks and it's the same every time, lockies charging incredible amounts for a job an unskilled layman (my mum) can do in a few minutes. Spread the word!

As mentioned, changing locks takes 5 minutes and zero qualification.

I cant say you were ripped off.

It's a bad feeling when you know you have been ripped of but it's a lesson learned and you will be a lot wiser next time your in a similar situation.

I think it was more aimed at the irony of new locks to prevent tradesmen entering - yet now you’ve peed off a locksmith who may have a copy of your new keys. :D
    I call this as scaremongering
Any business that is able to extract money legitimately is most unlikely to come and burgle you
After all the publicity if caught would take them down!

I wouldn’t worry, any half decent locksmith wouldn’t even need a key to get thru most doors
