ESA and University

Hello,
My son is currently on ESA support group but is looking in to doing a open university course from home. He is currently on ESA WRAG, and would qualify for full student loan and bursary because of low income. Would he still be able to claim his ESA WRAG, or would he need to come off that when applying for loans/bursary?

He is on ESA Work related Activity Group. Not sure how to edit my above post.0

If he's claiming Income Related ESA then student loans/bursaries affect the amount of ESA he can claim. https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Student-Support/How-does-student-support-affect-benefits0

If he'll be a full time student and is on income related ESA, his claim will have to stop unless he gets DLA/PIP. But if he does get a loan or grant as a student this will most likely reduce the amount of ESA that he gets.0

He is on income related ESA.0

Looking at his income he would qualify for a loan and bursary. So I assume his ESA WRAG would stop altogether. Just wasn’t sure if he could still claim but use the university course as the work related part of his benefit.0

His ESA would stop because the loan/bursary is counted as income for the ESA.Looking at his income he would qualify for a loan and bursary. So I assume his ESA WRAG would stop altogether.
