Fake £2 coins

Options
Please be aware that there are fake £2 coins in general circulation.

Recently I got £100 worth of £2 coins from my bank to look for collectable coins for my coin collection (Darwin, Dickens, etc). Two of the coins were a bit iffy, in that the Queen's head was rubbed and the edge inscription was rough. I reported the matter to my bank (Santander), and they were very non-committal about it. I even reported the matter to my local PCSO, and they weren't particularly interested either.

Did a little research and discovered that fake £2 coins are readily available from Chinese websites, so there could be millions out there.

It is an offence to knowingly pass on a fake £2 coin, so I'm stuck with them for a while. I can sell them on Ebay as some collectors are interested in fakes, but yet to make up my mind.

Check your change or you could be landed with a fake.

A similar thing happened to this guy with a £500 bag of £2 coins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVzHh3k130s at about 9 minutes, 40 seconds.

In the same batch, two of his £2 coins were £1 coins. The first one is at about 3 minutes, 50 seconds; the second at about 8 minutes, 40 seconds.

Do the coins weigh the same as a real.one ?

Is the queen's head being rubbed of an ok indication it's a fake ?

If your concerned why not take it to Bank of England ?

Or just spend it or bank it.

The Bank of England don't do coins, only notes. It's the Royal Mint who make coins.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
