Curry’s television

Hello
I purchased a JVC 32 in TV in June 2017 and it started to exhibit a possible fault 2 months ago and went completely 5 days ago. I purchased an LG tv 5 days ago from Curry’s to replace it. I spoke with them about the fact I was unhappy my product only lasted 2 years and was invited to take it to store. I was not offered repair (no parts) but just offered £81 towards something else. I believe that my product was inherently faulty and an prepare to pay to get an independent report. I was informed that it makes no difference they’re not obliged to give me a refund or replacement is this correct?
Many thanks for reading.

You got £81 credit for a two year old 32" TV? That's a great deal.
After that much time, they're only obliged to offer you a repair, replacement or refund (their choice) IF your independent report shows it was inherently faulty. Any refund would take into account two years' use.
That they've stumped up a partial refund without you having to get that report is very good of them.0 -
Many thanks for your response. I was under the impression that consumer law dictated that if I can prove it was an inherent fault with an independent report they were obliged to replace. Suppose I’m just sore as I purchased this that’s gone wrong after 2 years and 4years should spent a grand on a Panasonic that also lasted only 1.5 years. Mrs cheesed off 🤣0

No, they can choose the solution and any refund or replacement would take into account your two years' use. How much did you pay for it originally?0

It was hardly expensive at £199 but I’m just a principled tyrant 🤣 maybe this is my reality check 😄0

£81 is a great offer on a TV that cost £199 two years ago, especially since you haven't had to prove an inherent fault. I'd be pleased with that.0

Paying £118 for a TV that lasted 22 months isn't bad.
I'm surprised by the fact it's from Currys and you got £81, take it and run.0 -
Thanks everybody
Sometimes it worth a reality check.0
