Ikea delivery policy.

Options
Hi All,
I am interested in buying a bed from Ikea. The bed is advertised at £260.00. However it is a delivery only item.
The delivery charge is £39.99.
When you look in the shop, at the bed, there is no mention of either it being delivery only, or the cost of delivery.
This seems a bit off to me.
Although the bed is advertised at £260.00, I cannot buy it at that price. I can only buy it for £299.99.
I would be interested in your opinions.
Thanks
Nick

How many items can you get delivered for £39.99? Probably lots.

Which bed is it, can only see two for £260 on the website, both of which I could pick up in stores.

Sounds fair to me. You can buy the bed for £260, you are paying £40 for the delivery. As it constitutes a "larger delivery" you can presumably buy more items and pay no extra delivery charge.

Can you get a comparable bed bought and delivered for less elsewhere? If so, shop there.

    Did you try purchasing instore?
  • My point is that I can't buy the bed for £260.00, because they won't let me take it away.
    Maybe I'm missing something here.

  • But I don't want lots of things delivered, I don't want anything delivered. I would like to take it away with me, partly so I don't have to take time off work so I can be in for the delivery time and day which is not optional.

So buy a bed from elsewhere where you can take it away then. I really can't see what the problem is. Do you think they're breaking some sort of retail law or something?

Well you can't, so you need to choose another bed.

This seems less about the delivery cost and rather the fact you do not want anything delivered, so choose another bed.

It looks like SOME items can only be picked up at selected stores - for instance the Balestrand divan base (£260) can only be collected from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol etc etc).

actually.... on closer inspection it looks as if it's available at most stores! Whoops!

Yeah already asked what bed it is, I tried both £260 ones and both seemed to be available to me for store pick up.
