Laptop software issue rights to refund

Hi,

I purchased an acer laptop in september 2018. Within 6 months about March 2019 I think, it had this issue where it got stuck in a loop of trying to restart and solve some issue and there was no way out of it.

Took It back to curry's who sent it off for repair for a week and it came back working although they had to wipe it (didn't lose lose documents etc as saved on office 365). But was inconvenient having to set up laptop again to the way I like it and delete all the bloatware. Plus I lose the laptop for a week when I really needed it as I was doing an online course with a deadline.

Luckily was able to borrow friends laptop and meet deadline. Anyhow the exact same thing has happened now, less than 3 months later. This time I can't borrow anyone's laptop so I'm going to have to try and go to the library as again I have a deadline on Tuesday and only one spare day when library is open and I don't work.

Basically it's really annoying and I know curry's will take it away and repair it again but am I entitled to ask for a refund because it seems like this issue is going to occur again and again and I presume once I get past a year since purchase they will start charging for repairs despite the issue being present within the first three months of purchase.

What are my rights here?

Would appreciate any help :)

Cheers,

Tom

    What software ??
Generally software does not break a machine its usually the machine or user at fault.

Im genuinely surprised that they 'repaired' it even once.

They cant be responsible for windows updates , or software errors that occur due to things you have installed or options you have clicked ..

There is nothing wrong with the machine - you have a problem with windows

I'm not sure we can absolutely state this - there might be an underlying hardware problem that's evidencing itself as a software issue.

OP - what did Currys say was the problem last time?

IF they accept that the current fault is not user-caused then you're entitled to reject the goods for a refund (Final Right to Reject). Such a refund should be in full but they may reduce it marginally as it is now more than 6 months old.
