we have been having a clear out at home and have oddments of gold and silver jewellery (odd earings, broken chains etc) and a bag of foreign coins (many denominations). Not huge amounts but we wondered if any charities collect such things to raise funds? anyone know of any pls?

my daughter brought a bag home from school for old broken jewellery to raise school funds last year, so yes there is a scheme. I wish I could remember the name but maybe if you ask the local primary school they might have details of it. I'll ask during the week and get back to you.No one can make you feel inferior without your consent -Eleanor Roosevelt0

Got this from the school today, they used this company www.thefundraising.co.uk . Our school got a cheque for £200 for collecting broken jewellery. You could maybe contact them to find out if a local school is currently in the scheme.

Most Barclays branches I have been into have a collection box for unused foreign change which is converted and donated to charity. I think Lloyds might aswell. One day I might be more organised...........

I know that this post was done ages ago but I was passing my local Childline shop and saw an advert in their window for this kind of thing. Now I live in Scotland and it did say "Childline Scotland" but i'm sure that if you enquire with them they would be able to help you.0
