Can he claim child care?

So my sons father and I have 50/50 contact and I currently get the tax credits and child benifit and put it into our sons savings and about to start work, I’ll be in work before the 30h cut off point but his dad wants to get childcare for September sorted ASAP.
He lives with his partner and hey both work but don’t get any benifits. If he where to claim the 30h child care for September would he have to have the benifits and tax credits change to his name? It currently just goes into a saving account for our sons future. And does he have to provide proof of child living with him?
If he’s claiming the 30h child care will it effect me receiving the tax credits and child benifit and any working tax credits I may apply for once I’m working?
Any help would be really appreciated.
I’m just waiting on uni exambord ratification, NMC checks and DBS checks to start my new job and his dads panicking i won’t get it done in time for the cut off point and us end up paying for a term of nursery that neith of us can afford.
Thank you.

Why not just go ahead as if you have the job and organise child care now ready for September, you can always change/stop it if you don't get the job.0

The child must live with you to claim 30 hours free child care

Why does his father have to claim the free childcare . Why would you not claim it?
Since it is free does it matter who claims it?0 -
Dad wants to claim it to allow mum and to still get the tax credits?
Well that plan won't work!0 -
Mum can get 30 hour free childcare and tax credits.

You can get 30 hours free childcare at the same time as claiming Universal Credit, tax credits, childcare vouchers or Tax-Free Childcare.0 -
