If it was an older car then i would have said go elsewhere but as its still failrly new i would just go to the dealer yes it may cost you a bit more but they will use genuine parts and if you have any future problems they are most likely to offer you a good will gesture.

Make sure that major service also includes air filter, and fuel filter if not then i would get them done also for added piece of mind
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Do the service before end of warranty, in case some work comes up and it could be done under warranty.
This is what I was going to say.
Had my car serviced at dealer a few weeks before warranty expired - they found a couple of things I wasn't aware of (one was rear middle seat belt which I rarely use, can't remember what the other thing was) and had the car back to replace them before the warranty expired.
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

So my current position is I have a 3 year old VW Scirocco, due for it's first MOT and 'major' service next month.

Have the previous services been done within the dealer network? If it's on "Fixed Service" schedule rather than the "Inspection Service" schedule then this should be the 3rd service coming up. (Servicing is 12 months / 10k miles, whichever comes first, for the "Fixed Service" schedule).
