Kia Ceed snapped glow plug

Had the car 9 months and have already spent hundreds of pounds on it, had an mot and full service done at a garage local to my work, instructed them to also replace glow plugs as poor starter in cold weather, also replaced 2 front tyres, so in a nutshell the car has 12 months mot and freshly serviced and then number 4 glow plug snapped on removal, a mobile diesel specialist came out and couldn’t remove it, so now it’s a head off job, which I’ve been quoted £800 plus from another garage as the garage it’s currently at doesn’t do engine work, also will need towing, I’m at the stage where I no longer want the car but where do I go with it, second hand engines on eBay for £500-£600 but then it’s fitting costs on top, has anyone else been in this situation as I just don’t know what to do next

A £600 engine, plus delivery and fitting, is going to be a good chunk more expensive than an £800 head-off glowplug removal. And you'll have an unknown quantity - that may well need glowplugs, one of which will then snap...0

So my best option is to pay and have it done then sell it0

Sell it, and you'll need to replace it with something else.ShandyAndy wrote: »So my best option is to pay and have it done then sell it0 -

The cost of a service, MOT and tyres are costs which are associated with any car whether they are a good or a bad car.
You've been unlucky to have a glow plug snap in the head. It does happen though. Maybe it was a ham fisted mechanic? This doesn't mean that your Kia is a bad car.
It's happened. Pay to get it fixed and move on.
If you had a petrol car, you'd have the same risk of having a spark plug snap in the head.0 -

The 7-year or 100,000-mile warranty is covered on all Kia models, with no hidden agendas.
Can it be that bad with a 7 year warranty?0
