How to get the best deal for a kitchen?

Morning folks

I have read a lot here about kitchens and I would like to ask you what's the best way to go for a good deal?

From what I understand it would be better to go to Wickes/B&Q to get an initial quote with the design and then go to Benchmarx for a similar deal and find a Joiner who has over 60% discount on Howdens or something like that. And then I have read A LOT of DIY kitchens too.

How does that work with them? Can you upload the design of the previous quotes in the website and find cabinets that match or is it all a manual thing?

What I would like to do is to change my kitchen completely (including flooring and tiling) for a maximum of £8000, do you think that's possible?
Where I am staying the kitchen is vomit worthy I am not even joking and that's why I'm cooking exclusively from the microwave and the camping stove in the hallway.

Any advice would be highly appreciated

You either add items to your basket from the main DIY Kitchens website or you build up your 3D plan via that link and then ask DIY Kitchens to drop it into your basket. I've posted my views very recently on that service...

£8,000 is achievable, though I've no idea how big your kitchen is.

I'd also look at Ikea.

It depends on the size of your kitchen, number of units etc. £8k should be achievable if it's not too massive. A lot of the cost goes on fitting so depends if you know anyone who can help out with fitting.

Couple of examples of costs for kitchens I've fitted in houses I own recently:

Small kitchen - 7 units from Wickes takeaway range in high gloss white, built in appliances, Oak effect worktop, flooring, tiled splashbacks - £850

Larger kitchen diner - around 20 units, painted high gloss handleless from a kitchen specialist, granite worktops (fitted), flooring etc - £5500.

I would just wait for Wickes to have a sale. They do every six months or so.

I have a Wickes kitchen in one of my rental properties that still looks great after 20 years.

To get the best deal, buy units second hand on ebay (make sure they are a current range so you can add extra ones if needed) and do all the work yourself.

I did this and saved over £10,000 in buying stuff and paying for installation.

I bought my kitchen from Wickes and the quality is surprisingly good, very long lasting materials and it's held up well. Very good service and didn't face any problems. I'd recommend them and probably use them again.

As for Wickes, they already took the measurements and tomorrow I have the appointment at the shop for the 3d map.

Those who commented about having a Wickes kitchen lasting a long time and good quality, have you got a ready to install one or the personalised one?

EDIT: My Kitchen is not massive, I would say 12 units if you count the cupboards with 2 doors as 2 separe units, otherwise it's 10 I got a guy quoting me for £8500 (with installation) which for me sounds way to much for what it is to be honest, but I might be wrong. Another guy quoted me around £4000 (for kitchen and installation) and now will see what Wickes will offer tomorrow. I am looking at their ready to install models and they seem quite nice as well that's why I wondered if anyone has used those ones before and has good comments about it
