Maybe you should take some comprehension lessons at your local primary school before responding with such a superior and combative attitude.

You do realise that the people you're asking for help here do so in their own time? But good luck getting the answer you want with that attitude.
  • OP, it sounds like you don’t keep on top of issues with your car, and don’t maintain it. Maybe you should do what I’ve just done, and buy a new Tesla Model S. You get a decent warranty, and there’s far, far less to maintain on them than on your car.

    They are quite nippy, too.

I believe 90% of the issues will still apply to a tesla.

Tesla will still need tyres, suspension wear and tear parts, bulbs. Given then neglect by OP, will probably routinely forget to put the tesla on charge if they owned it,

It depends entirely on what it fails on.

True, though the bottom line is roadworthiness.

Even though 2 out of 7 LED’s working on a centre brake won’t necessarily mean your vehicle is unsafe

Car sounds like a death trap and should be scrapped.

OP sounds like an idiot and should be catching a bus!

I did mention numerous times, I expected a fail. I also ASKED them to FIX THE HANDBRAKE but they told me they test first.

If you're so on-side of the garage, why would a reputable place not want to fix the issue ASAP?

I didn't expect £860 and it's considerably higher than any other service or MOT bill - I have them ALL from the previous owner.

Furthermore, you made a point about the tires costing £60 each - incorrect.

I wrote that the cost of 2 tires is no more than £60.

Maybe you should take some comprehension lessons at your local primary school before responding with such a superior and combative attitude.

I totally fail to see how any previous bill happens to be relevant to the cost of this years MOT.
If anything one would expect a car will tend to get more expensive on MOT the older it gets
You unfortunately have a lot wrong with the car but at least you don't have Plod on your case and you have not had an accident and your insurance paid out and are trying to claim from you because of the Yul Brynners

OP thinks he's been "ripped off" but in fact it's exactly the opposite....if the garage had done the handbrake first the car would still have failed but he would have been commited to paying for the handbrake repair on a car that sounds like it needs scrapping.
    They did him a favour....
but I agree with others that basically his attitude stinks and he thinks he's special ...he must be one of the "snowflake" generation !

I suspect that the OP's real problem isn't so much the failed MOT it's how much the repairs cost.

It's an issue that many people on low incomes but need a motor have.

Although retail industry, he said he works nights, shift pattern usually commands a premium, saddled with minimum wage, I guess it's what other outgoings n stuff they have.
