You need to check your figures, Tech.
The supposed national UK average for gas consumption is 22,000kwh per year, most of that in the winter months.
Electricity is 3300 kwh per annum usually spread evenly over the year.

8.69pence and 17.20 standing charge sounds OK for an electricity rate.
Tell if you are on a metric or imperial gas meter.
And give more details of property and circumstances, for example are you on E7 electric heating tariff.

    ok thanks

how do i know if i am on a metric of imperial gas meter?. For gas i pay 2.150p per kwh and it is domestic standard on-line according to my bill

i have two bedrooms, bathroom, two rooms downstairs, kitchen

    i have gas central heating

below are the kwh used from 20/11/2006 to 19/11/2007

    2642.01
    3125.31
    1257.18
    2226.33
    ...........

for electric , the pc and tv uses about half of the bill i think

Are those electric readings, Tech, from your last two quarters or two six monthly bills to make the year. If the latter you are a low user, cheaper suppliers out there.
Electric is measured in kwh and gas is measured in units. Gas needs to be multiplied by 32 if cu ft. (look on the meter) or I think 11 if metric (again says on the meter),this then brings them to kwh.
You also need to say which area you live.
If those readings are electric for 2006 to 2007 looks like you have an E7 meter, which with gas central heating you don't need.

those readings are for gas, thought you wanted to know considering you were asking about my gas meter

to be honest i do not know my electric readings as up until a month ago, i was on a pre pay meter for electric, i am not on a credit meter and for this month i have used 490 units

only info i have at the moment is electric units used last year august 17th 2006 to august 17th 2007 , i used 3711, but this was before i got my plasma tv

Have you considered changing from PP to credit since PP is always more expensive due to the hassle they are to the Supplier???

You can also get further discounts for having DD's and duel fuel which will make it cheaper for you.

Be worth you using the online comparison sites.
