Potentional T-Mobile PPI Claim - Help

Options
Hi,

Iv pretty much ignored the PPI claims processes thinking I was too young to be affected by then since the claims go back multiple decades.

However I remember that when I turned 18 I took out a mobile phone contract with T-Mobile directly for a Nokia N95 handset in 2007. The contract was 18 months.

Obviously T-Mobile was bought out by Orange and then merged into EE. I dont have any paperwork anymore for my account but was wondering if its somehow possible to check if I have a PPI claim against this old contract.

This contract was sold to me before this PPI thing blew up in the media so it is possible I was missold as no one mentioned anything to me about it at the time and could of added it to the total cost of contract without me fully being aware as I was young and not really checking my bills in detail.

  • I could be proved wrong, but I have never heard of PPI being sold alongside a mobile contract. Are you sure it wouldn't have been handset insurance that you are thinking of?
I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!

    Neither have I.

As is often the case, the OP needs to realise that not every insurance policy was PPI and not even all PPI was mis-sold.

The Insurance (if you actually had any) was not simply added without you being "aware". In addition, not checking your bills because you were "young" is not a complaint reason.

    Fair enough, thats fine.

I thought PPI was applied directly to a contract as an insurance in case of eventually where I end up unemployed and unable to make my contractual payments.

So therefore wouldnt PPI be placed against the credit contract itself?

Well what I mean by that is that its been 12 years since then and I cannot remember anything about that at all, except I had a phone contract and I am unaware of any PPI but wish to check if that maybe it was placed onto the credit contract without my authorisation, i.e un-aware about it.

I also thought PPI was applicable to any sort of credit contract, not just bank loans etc.

But if you saying that it would have never been applied to a mobile contract, then that pretty much answers my question. "No there would have been no PPI"

It's a myth sponsored by claim companies, that insurance was simply added without the knowledge and agreement of the customer. It won't therefore have been "placed".

You didn't have PPI in any case but, if you did have some kind of different insurance policy, nothing you've said indicates that you have a valid mis-selling complaint.

    Edit: As above . .

A myth spread by the claims co's. If insurance isn't itemised but was somehow charged, the bill total wouldn't add up

PPI is there to cover unpaid debts that you owe but can't pay e.g. if not working, with something like a phone contract there is little reason to have PPI as they can cancel the contract and chase you for the cost of the phone. Phone shops did frequently sell phone insurance but this is nothing like the PPI miss-selling scandal so you'd have to complain directly to the shop and the fact the policy is long since cancelled would suggest it would be both time barred and having no records left to prove you had it

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
