Some of my files open with Libre Office but others open with Microsoft Office.

Can I set my files to open by default with Libre Office?
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

For the ones which open with Office, right-mouse-click and select Open With.... find Libre Office and click "Always open with this app".

Alternatively for Windows 10, go to settings/Apps/Default apps/(scroll down to)Default app by file type

    Yeah, tried that.
There are so many file types and when I try to change from Microsoft Office the only alternative is Microsoft Office.

Just had a look at my list as I use Open Office.
For .doc and .xls file types there is a choice of two the MS one and Open Office but there is just a symbol for Open Office not a name.
