Bosch do not manufacture these batteries, companies like bosch, samsung and others have their fingers in every pie, it would be a huge undertaking to have factories for washing machies, drills, car batteries, electrical components, bulbs and what not. They might own a few factories for their most profitable product line, but for others they just outsource them and put their badge on them.
I have been informed that the bosch car batteries are manufactured by varta (the worlds biggest car battery manufacturer).
More specifically your the bosch s4 005 is based on the varta d47
https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/d47/
(note it could be d48 you're after. the poles are reversed on that one).
I've compared the varta batteries to the bosch ones for sized 012. 027 and this 005. The moulds are exactly the same.
If you live near the Tayna warehouse, you could buy it from them. But I phone up Eurocarparts and pricematch it with them. It's helpful to buy car batteries from local suppliers, in the event of a warranty claim it's easier to drop them off at a shop than post it to a far-away address.
ECP will pricematch and beat any legitimate competing retailer price including delivery. (because they offer free delivery). They have pricematched Tayna (plus half their delivery cost) so in the end it saved me £4.
I certainly would not buy car batteries on ebay. The retailer may not even exist a couple months down the line. You're taking a big gamble. Add to that they will probably use Yodel/Hermes to deliver and the package will most likely be kicked around, stomped on, placed upside down.0 -

Perhaps batteries are a thing that fluctuate a lot - I bought one a while back for £50-odd, I forget exactly how much, and when I went back a year or two ago (probably 3 years after the first) they'd jumped to £90-odd, but the same price hike hadn't appeared anywhere else like Halfords.
I've not seen any sign of fluctuation as I thought they might be trying it on and their prices are consistent with others, I was just using Eurocarparts as a demonstration since that's who I used last time and they're still selling the identical battery with the same part number so there's no question over whether it's the same price or not.0 -

Ordered battery at 3.00pm and it was delivered by Parcelforce24 and in my car by lunchtime next day. Four year guarantee from a Company that was established in 1985. The cherry on top was I had free ebay vouchers which meant I only paid 61p for it.0 -

Do you know that the vast majority of couriers will not take a used battery from you? RM wont, neither would parcel force, hermes won't, DPD wont.
You have to arrange your own return in the event of a warranty claim. It's expensive [if you can find a courier who will agree to take it] and slow to post, to make a warranty claim. This is why I suggested you get ECP to price match the battery and pick it up from your local ECP if you have one.
The company you used could be genuine, GSF/ECP/CP4L are on ebay as well. But there are all sorts of small one man bands on ebay too.
the ebay vouchers used to get the price down to 61p is neither here nor there, you earnt these vouchers and could have used it on something else.0 -
Couriers don't accept a lot of things. In 45 years of motoring I've never had to return a failed car battery under warranty. It's an incredibly small risk compared to buying other stuff online and having to return it under warranty.0

Entering a number plate for my Hyundai battery replacement was directing me to some very expensive options. So I measured the compartment, noted the Amperage needed and found a Yuasa equivalent from Halford's that wasn't listed on the Halford's battery finder against my model of car.
Halford's very often offer a 5 year guarantee on batteries. Bought a couple from them as collecting in person is the only way to get a car on the road within hours. I carefully file away the receipt!0 -

If it's accompanied with a better suggestion where you can click-and-collect a battery within 20 minutes drive...0

Why the need for all the edits OP?0

OP seems a bit strange, and the year of their car has changed. They’ve gone from describing it as a banger with a list of faults to more reliable than a modern car.
I think that they are editing to avoid ever admitting that someone else made a valid point, although having the year change does suggest it’s being made up as they go.0
