Buying currency online

Hi everyone

Its my first post - I'm hoping someone can help me. A few weeks ago I read a very informative article about buying currency (euros) online rather than over the counter at banks, post offices etc. I was astonished how much you can save doing it this way. However, I forgot to keep the article (!) so I'm not too sure where to look. Can anyone recommend any sites?

Any help would be great!

Thank you

Sharon :D

I usually buy mine from: https://www.flymonarch.com

If you order before 12pm, they will deliver by the next day by 1pm and the rates are usually better than the high street travel agents.

M&S are good also for online and phone orders. Over £500 is delivered free by special delivery next day. See Marks & Spencer | Money Credit Card Travel Money

Also, it is worth knowing/remembering that if you use your M&S credit or chargecard the transaction is treated as a normal transaction with no fee incurred for cash advance and if you settle your account in full by the due payment date shown on your statement on which the transaction appears you will pay no interest. I never use my M&S Chargecard except to buy foreign currency and travellers cheques. If you time it right you can enjoy not only a good exchange rate (often in top 3) but also 8 weeks interest free. Also handy if you've not been paid before wanting the foreign currency when going on hols.

And do not forget that the old favourite of the Nationwide BS debit and credit cards usually still offer the best all round exchange rates with no loadings.

Be aware that most banks will charge you 1.5%-2% (max £2-£5) even if you use debit card: see My post #49 in the above thread. Nationwide don't charge for this. However, if you have Nationwide debit or cash card you will get the best rate in any ATM abroad.
