Item location v business address

Hi
I'm interested in buying a new mobile phone on ebay. The item location is shown as UK but the seller's address is in China.
Would this effect the protection if the phone were to develop faults, given that the business address is China? Many thanks for any advice.
Life's too short for wasting on ifs and might have beens...........

You won't have UK consumer rights.

If the item develops a fault you don't have ebay or PayPal protection as they aren't warranties, they are for faults on delivery.

I bought a mobile a few years ago on ebay where the seller was registered in China but the item based in UK. Got the item in 3 days and had no issues at all. It was a lot cheaper than UK sellers. It's a bit of a gamble but with ebay protection you should be okay but I just so happen to be buying from a good seller, you might be one of the unlucky ones.
  • I know for a fact that a good friend of mine just bought a mobile from an almost identical seller and was not so lucky, the mobile was a replica of the real one and now opened a dispute on eBay.

Chinese sellers have shipping warehouses all over the world.

They are massive sellers with dozens of accounts in every country on all the major selling platforms, like Ebay and Amazon.

They are genuine sellers but every now and again there will be problems, when there is a problem the return the address is to mainland China, that costs a lot of money to return and they don't cover it and you don't have UK consumer rights.
