Pull the weeds or dig them in?
Been away for 8 months and of course the weeds have really bloomed.
OK a lot of poppies and Foxgloves around as well.
I've started pulling the weeds but wonder if it might be better if I just dug them all in.
It would help the soil structure??
And after I've finished pulling the weeds I'd have to turn the soil over in any case.
Any thoughts??

It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Are we talking about entire borders and/or beds ?
Or, random areas ?
If you choose pulling them up ensure the whole root is taken or you could just be enabling growth from the damaged areas.
If you dig them in that could spread their growth.
If the areas are beds and borders I would be thinking about spraying with a systemic weedkiller.
If they're random I would probably pull them up ….
Bit difficult to comment without knowing the details of positions though.0 -
The weeds are in four areas.
Two borders totally about 60 feet X 5 Feet with many annual and perenial flowers.
And a large area of 35 ft X 20 ft in which there is a strawberry bed but many foxgloves and poppies the seeds of which I scatter when I go away in October. This area I plant as a veggie garden but because of my circumstances I won't plant this year but want to clear the weeds somehow. Another small area 25ft X 10 ft for both flowers and veggie.
Nothing ever planned and I plant as I feel like.
One good thing is I don't see any gallant soldier weeds. They are the bane of my gardening life. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
Annual weeds can be hoed out and left on the surface to wilt.
Perennial weeds need to be dug out with as much root as possible and disposed of . You could leave them to dry out to prevent them regrowing and save space for disposing of them.0
