PPI claim with Barclays ... help appreciated!

Hi to all you experiencEd and savvy claimants..
I have contacted Barclays to enquire whether I had any accounts with PPI on them.
They have written back to say that a Barclay card I had with them had PPi and have given the policy start date but not the policy number.
On that information I submitted my complaint.
I rang them to chase them up. They said that they had sent a letter saying I had no PPI with them so they’ve closed the case. After saying they’d already confirmed that there was a ppi policy with a card I had, they have agreed to reopen the case.
This is my first foray into making a complaint, and I’m not sure how to proceed. Are they stalling now that the deadline is looming?
I haven’t closed my complaint! But if they do does that mean I get caught up in problems with the deadline?
I’m averse to using a claims company but am beginning to think they might be worth using due to the looming deadline!
Has anyone else had problems with stalling tactics and do you have any advice on how to push forward with this please?

They're not stalling. What would be the point? You've submitted your complaint before the deadline.
If you use a claims company, not only will you lower your chances of success, you'll also need to pay a fee when they find out you've already made your complaint.
You now wait for them to complete their investigations and forget about pretending that they're stalling.0 -
"Stalling tactics" are not a feature of PPI complaints. Any PPI complaint received prior to August will be dealt with.
You don't have the option of now involving a Claims Company, since you have already lodged your complaint. You would be very foolish to do in any case as it will just cost you money for using a free complaint process.
Regardless, if you didn't have PPI you won't be getting a refund.0 -
Both of Barclays responses may have been correct. You may have initially applied for PPI but if you paid your credit card off in full every month would never have incurred a PPI charge.0
