When, if ever, is the best time to sell new and nearly new clothes, shoes and bags?

Hi I am having a massive clear out for Xmas and I have decided to flog lots of clothes, shoes and bags.
Some are brand new with tags, some are brand new but without the tags and the remaining are nearly new.
All are designer or branded stuff.
When is the best time to sell them because I reckon some of the tagged bags and unworn shoes could make ideal Xmas presents.
Is it a bit to early to list them for prospective Xmas shoppers?
When I try and sell my stuff goes for a song but whenever I want to buy i ended up paying more than I anticipated(but less than in the shops)
I wish to reverse this!:D

Thanks for your help.

You need to look at similar listings to give you an idea of how to present the listings and how much you can realistically expect to get.

  • I don't think it's too early to list things that might make good pressies. I had 4 or 5 gift sets I had been given in previous years and had sat there unused. I listed them on ebay, all of them sold and had loads of watchers and that was about 3 weeks ago.

I find shoes sell well all year round - as long as they are being sold in the right season - lol :)

Shoes & boots are the one thing that I know will sell when I list them.

Unfortunately, I have now run out of shoes to sell!

I find clothes to be so hit and miss. Defo have to be in fab condition and a good brand name makes all the difference.

My sis has just had a massive clear out of all her childrens clothes (3 kids under 5) and they have all sold exceptionally well. But again, they were mostly NEXT clothes which sell really well. :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

Just beware not to put "as new" in the titles as this will get them taken down.

To get the best prices you need to have good clear photo's, an accurate yet concise description, good feedback, offer paypal, reasonable postage charges and answer all questions (even silly ones that are obvious from the listing). To save on ebay fees host your photos on photobucket or similar and start at 99p. Make sure you use every available letter in your title but don't mention the word new unless it is. Have a gallery pic but don't bother with subtitle or any other 'upgrades'. Be prepared to have the odd listing removed if it is a designer label. Get them listed now!
