Living in London

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, and I appreciate this is a bit of a 'piece of string' type question, but I was looking for more rought guidance than specifics.
I have lived outside the UK for a while, but am moving back to London shortly, and am a bit out of touch with London prices/strength of the price etc.
My question is this: If you take out all fixed monthly costs from your budget (Rent/Insurance/Phone etc), take out a generous sum for grocery shopping, would £450 p/m be sufficient to live relatively comfortably on? I am a 28yr old single guy, so like the odd night out.
What do the assembled experts think?

Depends really on your travel costs (if you haven't already factored them in) and what your kind of night out is.
A zone 1/2 travelcard costs about £90 a month.
A theatre ticket can cost anything from £10 to £50
Club entry from free to say £20
Comedy club around £20
Drinks - about £4 a pint
So it depends how many of those things you do/drink as to how much a night out will cost you!
I've done a straw poll here and the average cost of a really good night out is apparently £70 (on top of travel).:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

Thanks for that. Travel costs are out already, so its really just luxury shopping and socialising. Should be OK then I think......0
