Can I just end my tax credits?

Hi everyone,
I am looking at returning to work full time in July/August and will no longer need tax credits. I believe that I still maybe entitled to £30/40 per week but as a family we feel we can get by without it.
I’m still due to do my renewal for last year but can’t until I receive my P11D as I have a company car.
Does anyone have any advice on what I need to do or been through similar circumstances. I don’t know whether to state my salary to be higher so I’m no longer eligible but will this then mess up my child benefit?

Just ring HMRC and tell them you wish to end your claim. Giving them false information does not sound like a plan.
Child benefit is not means tested (unless your earnings are over £50,000).
Bear in mind that if you do end your claim you will not be able to start claiming again in the future because new claims are no longer possible. Should your circumstances change again you would be forced to claim Universal Credit instead - assuming you were eligible.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Please be aware that if you phone up and cancel now you get a run on for four weeks but you may end up having to pay back all the credit you've received this financial year.
The other thing I would also say that if you are entitled to it, you really should claim it; it might only be an extra £30 a week but that's not the point.0
