Vehicle Wrap and Insurance

Hello,

I have recently got. My vehicle wrapped, however when looking to update my insurance I have been suggested a price around 130% more than my current premium, I have been told the vehicle wrap must be listed as paintwork modification even so I can’t believe the increase is there any advice as to how I can get insured without the drastic increase, if anything I thought the wrap would reduce the cost as it is protecting the body work.

Thanks.

You thought something that would make your care look more attractive to theives would bring the insurance down?

Now maybe it you had got some pink and yellow emulsion out and got a six year old to paint it you may have an argument.

Did you not consider asking first?

No not really like I said I was pretty sure it would reduce the price.

You said that, I can see no logic as to why wrapping the paintwork may reduce the premium, I'm no underwriter but around here they type of owner that wraps there cars somehow seem to fall fit a stereotype :o

Fairy enough, judging from your feedback I have been rather naive, that being said Any advice as to how to reduce the premium?

You need a modification-friendly insurance company: skyinsurance, brentacre, greenlight and adrian flux are brokers that specialise in this field. My modified car is cheaper to insure than if I'd had a standard car and went with a mainstream insurer.

How much did the wrap cost? The cheapest option might be to just remove it. How much was your car worth before you had it done?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.56% of current retirement "pot" (as at end January 2025)

Taking the wrap off isn’t really an option, I’ll try Adrian flux.

The premium has increased due to the modification, naturally few or no modifications keeps certain aspects of the premium at a minimum.
If you MUST have a car wrapped then I guess one with a lower base premium to start with?
Perhaps in an already nice colour.
