CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT: Barclays DD ERRORS - 15th November

A word of WARNING to anyone who is with Barclays...
Check your Direct Debits.
I had one 'returned unpaid' for £1k to Amex on the 15th of November.
It would appear that Barclay's are 'having a few problems with their systems'!
In essence check your statement -or you could end up being late with a payment, getting charged interest on the 'overdue' amount etc..... I guess it could also be applied to a mortgage payment - and it is bad karma to miss one of those as the whole thing just spirals out of control.......
I refused to take Barclay's 'assurances' that it was 'fine' and that Amex would re-apply for the DD in 5 working days. Just as well I ignored their advice as Amex had just sent me a 'missed payment' letter advising me of the implications (charges!). I paid over the phone by Debit card (and avoided said charges).... I was lucky that I noticed it......so please check your accounts so that you can avoid the same potential issue.
