    You realise though, that the agent can just have it as a policy. If you don't agree, you are free to do business elsewhere

    Err, it's not a policy though.

    It's a piece of government legislation that all agents must comply with.

    I didn't say it wasn't law. I said that even if it wasn't (which it is), the op would still have to show his ID if that was the policy.


    In other words I don't understand what the OP was arguing for anyway

    But you don't have to show id to walk in a shop and look at the shelves, it must be tiresome if you visit 20 EA's. And it should not really be needed until you want to put in an offer.

    Yes it speeds up the process in a fast market.
