PPI refund

Hi,
I have just had a letter saying I am getting a PPI refund
Of just over £1000 they have deducted tax from the payment i don’t earn enough to pay tax? I am also in receipt of Universal Credit will the DWP class this as income and reduce my payment or will it be classed as savings ?
Lastly do I have to inform DWP of this payment ?

Thanks for any replies

I think this will be treated as capital. If your total capital remains below £6000 it will make no difference to your UC. However I can’t find anything specific in Advice to Decision Makers. Perhaps another poster will be able to find definite information.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
