Received canada square letter 6 years later

Can't find anything about this in the forums so posting here.

I Decided I should really double check if I had PPI before the time ran out so asked my mum to look out any old paper work of mine (I haven't lived with them at all since 2012). As well as an old file of paper work (mostly irrelevant stuff I kept at the time) she had another bag of random stuff. As well as finding a 5 year old unopened bday card with a tenner in it and a package with a record I had ordered but obviously sent to the wrong address were some actual real letters. 1 of which was from Canada square operations about an old egg card! Anyway I contact them and I have been given a refund on a loan PPI but had the egg card one rejected. They say that it happened more than 6 years ago, (it did) and that it is more than 3 years since I realised or should have realised that there was a problem.

I actually agree that I should have realised, PPI has been in the news for years and they did send me a letter, I just didn't get it at the time due to no longer living there. However my parents did get the letter but apparently have just been throwing mail of mine in a bag for 6 years...

Should I contact them and let them know that I know they sent the letter but that I didn't receive it due to my no longer living at the address they sent it to (and send proof) at that time or does the fact that my parents still lived there mean that the letter stands?

I do already feel good at getting some money back from the loan and this credit card is from a long time ago so if I get nothing then fine but at the same time while I think I should have looked into this sooner time hasn't yet ran out and I didn't know they had sent me a letter to my old address until about 7 months ago when I got that random bag of mail from my mum.

It's irrelevant that it was sent to your parent's address as long as you genuinely lived at another address.

So, if you can prove you lived elsewhere when the CCL (letter) inviting you to complain about PPI arrived, then you should furnish the Bank with this proof.

Be aware that, even if the time bar is lifted, your complaint could still be rejected for other reasons.
