Electric meter went blank a year or so ago...

Bfoxo - I hope you had been supplying readings prior to the screen going blank otherwise you will have real problems in establishing a consumption history and will be unable to contest that (now very big) bill when it comes.
PS The "workers" may have been from the local distribution company who have no interest in meters.
To concur with robin the Dno doesn’t own the meter and wouldn’t report it, they might have done some work at the cut out.0 -
Just to check, definitely not a smart meter and you're referring to the IHD/Hub going blank, not the meter itself?0

DNO s/Transo/Cadent certainly used to "own " meters. My old electric meter has "property of Yorkshire Electricity " now Npower, printed on the meter. The old key and card meters would be property of DNO/CadentTo concur with robin the Dno doesn’t own the meter and wouldn’t report it, they might have done some work at the cut out.
Smart meter roll out, both gas and electric were changed by OFGEM to be installed by individual suppliers for their own customers . That means the here today gone tomorrow suppliers had to get involved, which they did n`t want to do.
. OFGEM made a big expensive mistake IMO to allow individual suppliers to be responsible for the roll out.The rest of Europe used their DNO s to install
That is why its costing so much and is so slow in getting the meters switched.
Previously the local DNO s and Transgo, (now Cadent ) used to install meter exchanges far quicker than all these 60 odd suppliers can manage. They could do multiple suppliers all in one go down a particular street0
