I subscribe to the cheap energy club too but when I did my latest comparison about a week ago I selected the first four or five companies (excluding ones I would never ever use), checked all of their charges and plugged them into a spreadsheet and did a proper comparison alongside the figures from my current company. This is the only way to achieve true transparency of what you are being charged against what you would be with a new supplier. Armed with this info you can argue with the new supplier as to what your DD should be and many would probably accept it if you are sure of your figures. If any company did not accept it I would cancel the switch and go elsewhere. Using comparison sites is only to find the cheapest deals - doing your own figures is the only way to be absolutely sure of whether a new tariff is right for you or not.
