Help needed: suddenly all my pws have disappeared on win.7 with Firefox! As soon as I store one and then close FF they disappear again.
What is happening? Any solutions please, and can you keep the solutions simple as I'm not too switches on technically!
Thanks.

When I go to options/security there is no box for "remember passwords" as there was before just a box saying"ask to save passwords and logins" which is ticked. I think there was an update recently, could this be the problem?0

Click on the hamburger (3 bars) top right, there is an option there to click on "logins and passwords".Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I would strongly recommend not allowing Firefox, or any other web browser, to save passwords. Get yourself a password manager/vault that is specifically designed for this job.
I personally use Keepass because it works across several OSes (Windows, Linux and Android), but others are available that may be more suited to your use.

The issue in the OP's case could be any number of things, an extension causing this or maybe a profile problem. Suggest try starting Firefox in safe mode (Firefox, not Windows Safe Mode!) and see if the issue resolves itself:

Thanks Neil Jones, just started ff in safe mode and it seems to be working. What do I do now? what do I do about the safe mode? lets hope it works.0

Hi Neil Jones, sorry still not working! Any suggestions.0

If the problem fixes itself in Safe Mode then the problem you are seeing with the passwords is being caused by an extension or theme you have installed. All Safe Mode does is turn them all off temporarily.0

By any chance do you have AVG on your PC. Bleeping Computer reports a problem with the latest update to Firefox 67.0.2 where AVG password protection renames the file containing stored passwords. Here's a link to the Bleeping Computer article.
