Hi All, hope you're all having a good day.
A noticed a strange thing regarding my Carers allowance today. As we know, Carers Allowance is £66.15 per week. But if claiming Universal credit, it's deducted £1 for £1. This then gets part exchanged by Carer Element. So far so good.
I can see that deducted from my UC is £286.65, which represents £66.15 x 4.333 weeks, or a calender month.
But then I saw that I'm credited seperately my Carers Allowance of £264.60 per month, which represents £66.15 x 4. ???
So it's a difference of £22.05 underpayment or overpayment whichever way you look at it, but I'm this figure worse off each month, or so I thought..
I've checked, and I am paid on the same day each month, so it was a bit odd.

However, I'm told that CA is paid 4 weekly, which is why the difference is there, it's just co-incidence that I've been paid on the same day of the month for my total 3 claims .

Are you saying that your carer's allowance is being paid monthly rather than 4 weekly? If that is correct then you should query this. Over the year you should get 13 payments of CA.

    The UC calculation is correct.

Carer’s Allowance is usually paid every 4 weeks (you get 13 payments of £264.60 per year). For UC it has to be converted to a monthly amount (£66.15 x 52 / 12 = £286.65).
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
