Good idea BTW to cut down travelling to once a month.

There are so many people in all sorts of predicaments on the challenge and, surprisingly, at least one other who lost everything in a fire last year, so don't despair, you are in good company and we need you there so you, too, can become a frugalite with savings :D .

If you concentrate on the simpler areas like looking for discounted rail tickets and working at reducing the £76.50 for all those other spends then it is a very good start. The point is that you have sat down and really looked at the situation and are now in a position to make some changes. It makes me think of Superman flying round the earth in a bid to stop impending disaster... you have now donned your magic cloak! :T

PS: I had a couple of supermarket saver digestives and a couple of lumps of Thorntons chocolate toffee that's left over from Christmas. :rotfl:

  • :D Thanks nykmedia, I certainly have had a good hard look at finances today and I feel like I have got my super moneysaving cape on! he he!:A
So I think I'll leave the SoA for now but actually try and come in under-budget every month (target of £55 instead of 76 to start with) so when I review it in March I will know how low I can realistically go.
Roll on tomorrow - the thing I hate is the first day of quitting and budgeting - u get all fired up and positive and then there's nothing to actually do - but tomorrow I can take some constructive action and cook lots of meals to freeze, following some MSE recipes, hopefully also distracting me from the fact that it will be my second smoke free day.
    :j Raring to go now!

Day 27 of my quit (daily savings) and there is a thread on MSE for the quitters. Umm... I kinda had to leave it as I wasn't addicted enough to smoking before I quit, or at least that's how they made me feel when I disagreed with a few comments on there.
I always do my weight loss regime during February because it's the shortest month and let's me say I stuck to my plan for a full month. Try freecycle, it worked for me. I mean an actual FREE CYCLE - I got a free exercise bike from someone who wanted rid of it and it worked wonders - mp3 player, pedalling away counting calories lost and dreaming up my next madcap scheme. Have you spotted any offers for free pedometers anywhere? I accidentally dropped mine down the toilet and it doesn't want to play any more. :rotfl:
