John Lewis Added Care for washing machine (JLWD1614)

Hi all

I'm looking at buying this John Lewis washer dryer given that it's one of Which's best buys: (£679) - John Lewis & Partners JLWD1614 Freestanding Washer Dryer, 8kg Wash/4kg Dry Load, A Energy Rating, 1600rpm Spin, White

John Lewis provide a 3 year guarantee as standard, but for an extra £80, I can buy their 'Added Care' which comes with a 5 year guarantee.

What are your thoughts? Do you think it's worth it?

That entirely depends on your attitude to risk & how much trouble you have with washing machines. £80 is a lot less than any callout would cost, but are you likely to need a callout in those two years?

Well worth having 5 years as washer driers aren't the most reliable of kitchen appliances.

However JL are always having sales and offers - at some point this machine (or the AEG equivalent) will probably have a 5 year warranty offer.

In the strictest sense its not worth it.

John Lewis sell it to you to make money so on average more people spend money on the policy than John Lewis will spend fixing or replacing machines.

However in another sense it's worth is based on the value you place on the peace of mind of having an "insurance policy" which is the way it's described in the T&Cs
