Why does adding a driving with accidents to my clean record decrease the premium?
Its all very hit and miss with some strange quirks.
Adding another driver generally reduces the risks.
Again it’s done on claims experience, but logically imagine you weren’t feeling well, it’s less risky for someone else to drive which would happen in most couples.
Accidents don’t always get a big loading.
A single low value accident on an otherwise good record usually isn’t loaded that badly, but depends on other factors such as age as well.
Occasionally there are anomalies in the system.
There was a period when fully comp was cheaper than 3rd party fire and theft (don’t know if it still is).
There have been periods when it was more expensive to add another driver and periods when it lowers the cost.
We can’t explain but based on claims experience is the stock answer.0
